Chapter 21: Gear Dock Raid

[Scene opens on Rico's chamber. Fei, Citan and Hammer are in it. Rue and her two subordinates are behind Fei at the stairs. The collars on Fei and Hammer have been removed.]

FEI
"... This room!? This is the Champ's...?"

RUE
"Yes, the room given to the Champion... Is it not to your satisfaction?"

[Fei shakes his head.]

FEI
"No, it's not that. What about Rico...?"

RUE
"... Rico? He's the 'ex-Champion'... Now you are 'the Champion'!"

FEI
"But, what happened to him...?"

RUE
"After the Finals League, during the group league bouts, his Gear went out of control.
The out of control Gear crashed into the Kaiser's box seat, and was damaged.
Nothing has been heard from the former Champion, Ricardo, and no one has seen him since the incident..."

FEI
"......"

RUE
"There are no Battling competitions for a while so you can rest up a bit.
The explosive collar has been removed. How about taking a walk around 'A Block' - the civilian area of Nortune?"

[Fei turns to the side and looks toward the wall.]

FEI
"... 'A Block'... civilian area?"

RUE
"The southeast part of the Imperial capital... It is called A Block or the ordinary civilian area..."

[Rue prepares to go.]

RUE
"Well then, we shall take our leave..."

[The subordinates walk down the stairs and leave.]

RUE
"Anyway... This room is yours to use. Next door is your bedroom.
Oh... and, Fei. Now you will be given the title of Champion as well as special S Rank privileges."

[Rue walks to the stairs and turns back to Fei.]

RUE
"Well, congratulations on winning the Battling championship...
We were able to take some very good data... Ha ha hm. One more thing, good news.
Kaiser Sigmund would like to meet you, Champion Fei.
Please stop by the Central Administrative District."

[Rue wraps it up.]

RUE
"Well... good bye."

[Rue leaves. Citan walks over to the center of the room. Fei and Hammer turn around. Citan and Hammer turn to Fei.]

CITAN
"So, you are now free in both name and... reality, right?"

HAMMER
"So, what are you gonna do now, bro? Leave Nortune?"

CITAN
"We are not yet finished. There is one thing left to do here."

[Fei turns to Citan and nods.]

FEI
"... I know. It's Weltall, right?
We can't just leave it here. We have to get it back somehow..."

[Citan starts thinking (what a surprise!! :P)]

CITAN
"It is best if we assume Weltall has been moved to a different dock..."

[Citan looks up.]

CITAN
"So, I guess that is where you come in, ... Hammer!"

HAMMER
"Got it, doctor!
I'll find out where your Gear is... I'll bet my name as the 'Imperial capital's No. 1 Supplier' on it!"

[Fei looks at Citan, then Hammer.]

FEI
"Okay then, let's work separately.
I'll work by myself, while you, Hammer and doc, work together..."

HAMMER
"Bro, don't you trust me or something?
I work better alone! Nothing against Citan, but he'll just get in the way, bro."

[Hammer walks quickly down the stairs and leaves.]

HAMMER
"So then... just leave it to me, OK!"

[Fei looks at the stairs.]

FEI
"That Hammer..."

[Citan looks up.]

CITAN
"...... We should make a move too."

[Citan joins Fei and they exit the room. Scene change.]

[Begin music: "Invasion"]

[Scene opens on the bar. Fei walks over and speaks to Latina.]

LATINA
"I knew your power was genuine! You even took out the Champ. It explains why I couldn't win against you. Figures."

[Fei heads to the exit, when Latina stops him from behind the counter.]

LATINA
"Oh, Fei, wait a sec. Hammer just went but he left a message for you.
He wants you to meet him at the 'Wildcat' bar, in the civilian part of the city, once you've taken care of everything. You got that!?"

[Fei and Citan leave the bar. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on D Block. Fei stops by the B-Info center to trade in his earnings from the sewer. After that, Fei and Citan head to the exit when the guard stops them.]

GUARD
"This is the main town. D Block prisoners like you, what? You're...
... Excuse me! Please go on through."

[The guard goes back to his post. Fei and Citan pass. Scene change.]

[Fei and Citan head for A Block. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on A Block's North Gate. Fei and Citan walk around and find Big Joe guarding a corridor to the east. Camera pan to behind Fei on the side.]

BIG JOE
"Hee-hee! There's something really interesting beyond here! Do you want a look?"

FEI
"Something interesting...?"
[I want to take a look!]

[Big Joe flaunts himself.]

BIG JOE
"Oh! So you do want to go take a look, huh? ...
Well, young man, if all in this world was that easy, huh? You know, I can't just let you go see for free!
So... let's make a deal then boy! I'm talking money, friend! Cash, moolah, wampum, G!
If I was just to get out of your way and leave... well, it would benefit you, but... it'd be of no profit to me!
If I gain, you gain! That's the way it goes! It's a fair trade, is it not, friend?"

[Joe swings to both sides.]

BIG JOE
"It's a bargain at 5000G!"

[Camera pans to behind Fei. Joe flaunts himself again.]

BIG JOE
"... Transaction approved! The fun starts from here! Never fear, I'll be here!"

[Fei looks in.]

BIG JOE
"What's the problem? It's much further in from there. ... Hurry up, now!"

[Fei and Citan walk into the alley behind Joe.]

BIG JOE
"That's right, straight ahead now."

[Fei and Citan walk out of the screen.]

FEI
"What's with this!? It's just a dead end!?"

[Begin music: "The Steel Giant"]

[Camera pan to the entrance of the corridor on Joe's side.]

BIG JOE
"I sure swindled you! Hah-haaa! See you around, sucker! Adios!

[Big Joe runs off.]

FEI
"Ah! Hey, wait!!"

[Fei and Citan run back to the main walk.]

FEI
"Puff, puff! ... Damn! Boy is that guy quick at running away!"

[Fade music.]

[Begin music: "Invasion"]

[They continue on when a kid chimes up.]

KID
You know, my big sister has a friend called a 'fiance'! He didn't have any hair, but he was sooo kind!

FEI
"... A fiance? With no hair...? Hmm. Where have I heard that before?"

KID
Our house is just over there!

[Fei and Citan wander around and jump in a chimney from a roof after a while. They walk into the locked house's living room and talk to a woman.]

WOMAN
"Hey, wait a minute! Where did you......"

[Fei and Citan walk back a step or two. Camera pan to behind the woman.]

WOMAN
"Uh, huh? You're the one from D Block......"

[Fei nods.]

FEI
"...? Do you know me?"

[Citan nods.]

CITAN
"Fei, you did not... with this woman while I was gone?"

[Citan nods. Fei turns around and shakes his head.]

FEI
"Wa, wait a minute, doc!? I didn't do..."

WOMAN
"Heh, haha. You probably can't tell by the way I'm dressed."

[Fei turns around and shakes his head confusingly, then looks down.]

FEI
"???"

WOMAN
"Come on, it's me, the doctor from D Block. Don't you remember?"

[Fei looks up and then nods.]

FEI
"...!? You, the one from D Block!"

DOCTOR
"Yeah, now you remember. Long time no see. Oh, you got that collar off?"

[Citan nods.]

CITAN
"Yes, he became the Battling Champ.
He is no longer a prisoner."

[Citan turns back.]

DOCTOR
"Then you're the Battling Champ? Wow! That's great! I knew you were strong."

[The doctor turns to Citan.]

DOCTOR
"And you might be?"

[Citan nods.]

CITAN
"Oh, excuse me, we have never met.
I am Citan Uzuki. You could say that I am his guardian."

[Fei turns halfway to Citan.]

FEI
"G, guardian...?"

CITAN
"Presently, I am the doctor in the imperial D Block..."

DOCTOR
!?

[The doctor walks quickly towards them. Fei and Citan back up a few steps.]

DOCTOR
"Hold on! What are you doing here!?"

[Citan realizes what he just said, cutting the doctor off.]

CITAN
"Huh? Uh, well... that is..."

DOCTOR
"Sigh, what's going to happen if someone gets injured now!? Who's going to look at the injury?
Don't you feel an obligation as a doctor to... Dr. Uzuki, don't you have any
responsibility!?"

[Citan looks down.]

CITAN
"I, I am extremely sorry."

[Fei shakes his head.]

FEI
"... Uhmm, mind if I interrupt?"

DOCTOR
"What?"

FEI
"You're the doctor in charge here?
That's what I heard from Hammer."

DOCTOR
"Aaahh, that. Following the request of the empire, I agreed to be in charge of this part
of the city, but now they're telling me they already have enough doctors..."

[Citan assumes his thinking mode. The doctor turns to Fei.]

DOCTOR
"Who do they think they are? So, for now, I'm just on standby. As long as nothing really big
happens, I think I'm going to be here for quite a while..."

[Fei shakes his head.]

FEI
"... I know I'm in no position to ask you, but do you think you could
return to D Block?"

DOCTOR
"Isn't Dr. Uzuki in charge of D Block? I can't just do that."

[Fei nods.]

FEI
"Well it's about that. ... We're leaving the capital soon.
Of course doc will be with us.
So... it would be good if you could take care of D Block."

DOCTOR
"I see you've got your own problems... Okay, leave D Block to me. And also, if you have any
other problems, come to me. I'll try to help in any way I can."

[Citan looks up.]

CITAN
"I am sorry about this. Please take care of everyone."

[Camera pans up and rotates to the side of Citan.]

FEI
"Thanks, I owe you one."

[The doctor talks a little more.]

DOCTOR
"I too had been thinking of leaving from the Imperial capital...
But then I came to think that if I try harder things will get better...... You too try your hardest, OK!"

[Fei tries the door to leave. It rattles. Camera pans to behind the doctor.]

DOCTOR
"Oh, yes. Next time, please knock! Then I will open the door for you.
If you come through the toilet............ ya... you know! It might be at the wrong time."

[Fei looks down, then shakes his head, then he nods.]

FEI
"...... Uh, yeah. You're right... I understand. And, how many knocks?"

DOCTOR
"Hmmm, let's say...... '2, 1, 2'... Would that be okay?"

FEI
"Got it. 2, 1, 2... right?"

DOCTOR
"Uh huh, yes. Well then, good luck."

[The duo leaves and leaves A Block. They head for the Central Administrative District in the center of town. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on the entrance hallway to the Central Administrative District. Fei and Citan walk up to the two guards in front of the door.]

SOLDIER
"This is the Kislev Central District. Only authorized perso...
Huh? Well, if it isn't the Battling Champ, Fei."

[The soldier prepares to walk.]

SOLDIER
"The Kaiser's waiting."

[The other soldier walks to the side, the first one walks up the steps behind him and turns back.]

SOLDIER
"Please, come this way."

[Fei and Citan follow the soldier in the door. The other soldier brings up the rear. Scene fade.]

[Scene opens on the exact same hallway, a few seconds later, but facing opposite direction. Rico runs through the front door. Camera pan quickly behind him. He looks around. No one is there.]

RICO
"No one's around."

[Rico nods to himself.]

RICO
"I thought so. Security's been lightened to lure Fei."

[Rico walks up to the main door.]

RICO
"Hmm... I suppose knocking on the front door's out?"

[Rico walks to the side of the door and looks up.]

RICO
"Guess I'll get in through that air duct up there."

[Rico jumps on the pillar and climbs up it. Scene fade.]

[Scene opens on the next room as the soldiers lead Fei and Citan in.]

SOLDIER
"This is the Central District.
The Kaiser's room is up this elevator and up the west wing stairs."

[Fei and Citan look around a bit before taking the elevator. They walk into the tactical room and find several soldiers looking at a rotating model of a battleship. One soldier explains.]

SOLDIER
This is the new battle ship, Goliath!
With its completion, Aveh and Solaris will have to submit to us.

[Fei and Citan leave and go to the opposite door. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on stairs leading down. The duo find a man with a dog at the bottom of the stairwell, behind the stairs.]

MAN
Don't tell anyone I'm keeping a pet down here.
I found him on the outskirts of Lahan on the verge of death.
But, look at him now.

[Fei turns to the dog. It barks happily. Fei and Citan snoop around the lower levels a bit more, then take the elevator. Scene change.]

[Scene opens as the elevator travels a up-right-up path to the higher floors. The door opens at the end. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on the second floor. After looking around the command bridge, they notice a heavily guarded door on the east side.]

SOLDIERS
This is the Kaiser's wife's room.
No one's been allowed in ever since she disappeared.
Please, leave.

[They head up the west wing stairs to a small door and enter. Scene change. Stop music.]

[Begin music: "Pray for the People's Joy"]

[Scene opens on the Kaiser's room. Fei and Citan enter. An elder is wandering about the outer chamber.]

ELDER
"Sigmund made it this far on his own even after the loss of his wife.
But, not a day goes by that he doesn't think of her.
... It is so sad... ... sob... sob..."

[Fei and Citan walk into the organ chamber. Stop music. Sigmund, who was at the organ stops playing. A maid is on the side. Camera pan to the side of Fei.]

SIGMUND
"Who are you?"

[Sigmund gets out of his chair and turns around.]

SIGMUND
"!! I see... So you are Fei...
Welcome."

FEI
"You...? How do you know me?"

SIGMUND
"Ha ha hah. Excuse me. I am the Kaiser of Kislev, Sigmund."

[Sigmund keeps talking.]

SIGMUND
"This may sound sudden but would you like to join forces?
I need your assistance."

[A few seconds pass, then Rico falls down from the ceiling in the adjoining room. He gets to his feet and shakes the cobwebs. Fei turns around. Rico turns to realize where he is and his mane goes up in shock.]

RICO
"Ah!"

SIGMUND
"!? Huh...?
It's YOU! Rico!"

RICO
"Not good!"

[Rico runs for the door. He turns back to Sigmund.]

RICO
"Coming again! Laaater..."

[Rico exits in a hurry.]

SIGMUND
"... Mutant! Security!! Arrest this intruder!"

[Rico goes out the door.]

[Fei turns back to Sigmund.]

SIGMUND
"He wasn't with you, was he?"

[Fei shakes his head.]

FEI
"Uh, no... We weren't..."

[Scene change.]

[Scene opens outside the Kaiser's chamber. Rico runs pellmell down the stairs and stops at the elevator.]

RICO
"No. Down's not good..."

[Rico runs past to the heavily guarded door and looks in that direction.]

RICO
"I'll hide over there for now."

[Rico walks slowly up to the guards.]

RICO
"Hey! The Kaiser's calling you."

SOLDIER 1
What! Is that true?

[Soldier 1 starts walking away. Soldier 2 hesitates.]

SOLDIER 2
Hey! Is it okay?

[Soldier 1 turns back.]

SOLDIER 1
... Yeah.
This door won't open for anyone except the Kaiser and his wife.

[The soldiers run off. Rico watches them go. Then he turns to the door. The door opens!]

RICO
"Hey, it does open."

[Rico walks in. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on the Kaiser's wife's room, which is fairly elaborately furnished. Rico walks in. He walks to the center.]

RICO
"Huh? What's this room...?"

[Rico stops.]

RICO
"!?... This smell..."

[Camera pan in close to Rico amidst flashes of white and a wind sound. Scene fade.]

[Scene open on the room again, but the scene has a wave effect going over it. Rico is seen in the mirror.]

RICO
"... I've seen this..."

[Camera pan over to the double bed. Camera then pans back to the mirror.]

RICO
"... When was... it..."

[Camera pans over to the china cabinet on the other side. Scene fade.]

[Begin music: "Distant Promise"]

[Scene opens on a small wooden house. A woman occupies it.]

VOICE
...ther.

[The front door opens, and a small child runs in.]

CHILD
...other.

[The child runs up to the woman.]

CHILD
Mother, why does Jenny have a father but I don't?

WOMAN
"Well that is, your father is... So... that's... why..."

[Scene fades as the woman speaks.]

[Scene opens on the house again. Camera behind the woman as the child looks at her.]

CHILD
... ther.

[The child continues.]

CHILD
... other. ... You have to rest.

WOMAN
Now listen to me! Your father is a great man...

[The woman continues.]

WOMAN
Someday, you'll follow in his footsteps...

[The woman walks off to the side.]

WOMAN
... cough.. cough...

[The child looks at the woman.]

CHILD
!! Mother, mother...

[Scene fades as the child speaks.]

[Scene opens on the house again. The child is in the doorway. The woman is off into a corner. Camera behind the door.]

CHILD
... ther.

[The child runs in.]

CHILD
... other. Mother...

[The child runs closer to the woman, who is looking into the corner.]

CHILD
... I'm, different from the other kids.

[The woman turns around.]

CHILD
... Even my nails are long and look at my ears...

[The woman takes a step towards the child.]

WOMAN
...!! ... No no... It's not... like that...

CHILD
... Miyo from across the road keeps saying I'm not human and that when I get older I'll become a demi-human.

[The child runs directly up to the woman.]

CHILD
I'm... not human? ... Then you're not my mother? ...
No, I don't want that...

WOMAN
Oh god... please... have mercy on this child...

[Scene fade as the woman speaks.]

[Scene opens on the house. The child and the woman are at the window. The camera is directly in front of the door.]

WOMAN
"... Get out!! Go away you mutant child!"

[The woman turns to the side.]

WOMAN
Uuuuhhh...

[The woman walks away and chokes a bit.]

WOMAN
Cough cough... cough

[The kid runs up behind the woman.]

CHILD
!! Waaaaahh! Mother, mother is...

[Scene fade as the child speaks.]

[Scene opens on the house again. Camera in front of the opposite side of the door. The kid is sitting next to a bed. The woman is no longer there.]

WOMAN'S VOICE
Here, listen... carefully... from now on... you're going to be by yourself...

[The child turns to the window.]

CHILD
... Mother... I'm...

[The child pauses.]

CHILD
I'm?

[The kid stutters again.]

CHILD
I am...?

[The child fades out and fades into Rico.]

RICO
"Is... that kid... me?"

[Rico ponders.]

RICO
"My childhood memories... I've forgotten..."

[Scene fade.]

[Scene opens on the Kaiser's wife's room. Rico stands in the center. Camera in front of Rico on the side.]

RICO
"... Why, am I remembering this now...
This room...? That faint smell..."

[A loud knock on the door.]

FEI
"Hey! You in there? Open it up..."

[Rico turns and opens the door. Fei and Citan walk in. Rico walks back to his place. Fei shakes his head.]

FEI
"What're you thinking, breaking into the Central District?
This isn't good... ...!? What?"

[Rico turns around and shakes his head.]

RICO
"Forget about it..."

[Rico turns back around and nods.]

RICO
"Forget about it..."

[The three leave the room. Scene change. Stop music.]

[Scene opens outside of the room. Sigmund and the two soldiers are standing outside as the three walk out. Camera pans to behind Sigmund on the side.]

FEI
"...!?"

[Fei and Citan walk to the side and Rico walks up to in between them.]

SIGMUND
"You... How did you get in here?"

RICO
"Nothing... I just came in through the entrance."

[Soldier 1 walks up a step.]

SOLDIER 1
Ridiculous! It shouldn't open unless it scans the right DNA. It couldn't open that easily!

SIGMUND
"... It was probably a malfunction."

[Sigmund nods.]

SIGMUND
"It doesn't matter... Arrest the intruder.
The Battling Committee is after him for breaking his contract. Let them deal with him."

SOLDIERS
Yessir!

[The soldiers take Rico and begin to walk away. Rico stops and turns to Fei.]

RICO
"Well... I'll be seein' ya around sometime."

[Rico and the guards run off. Sigmund nods, then shakes his head.]

SIGMUND
"... No... can't possibly be..."

[Sigmund turns back to Fei and Citan.]

SIGMUND
"That man was suspected of trying to assassinate me.
The police are looking into the matter now.
Well, I have some sudden matters to attend to, so if you'll excuse me.
Please tour the district at your leisure. Oh, and about my proposition...
I'll be awaiting a positive response."

[Sigmund nods.]

SIGMUND
"Good day."

[Sigmund leaves.]

[Begin music: "Invasion"]

[Fei and Citan return to the Kaiser's chamber and talk to the maid.]

MAID
His wife was carrying a child when she left.
If it were a boy, he would've been the heir.

[Fei and Citan return to the entrance, where the guards are blocking the way. Fei gets their attention.]

SOLDIER
"Fei, will you be leaving?"

[The soldiers move out of the way.]

SOLDIER
"Come back anytime."

[Fei opens the door when Citan stops and starts thinking.]

CITAN
"Hammer should have been able to get that information by now."

[Fei turns to Citan. Citan shakes his head.]

CITAN
"Let us go check out the Wildcat."

[Fei and Citan leave. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on the north gate of A Block. Fei and Citan walk in.]

CITAN
"The meeting place was the 'Wildcat', a bar in the civilian area, was it not?
Well then, let us go!"

[Fei and Citan walk into A Block. But they only have gone a few steps when Hammer calls out. Camera pans to in front of Fei as Hammer runs in babbling.]

HAMMER
"Bro---! With these ears, I've picked up the latest information on your Gear!"

[Hammer runs up to the duo.]

HAMMER
"Hee-hee, I've pinpointed where your Gear is bro!"

[Fei shakes his head.]

FEI
"... Hold on a second!
(Don't you think it's dangerous to talk about that stuff around here!)"

HAMMER
"Huh? What's with you, bro? I have info on your Gea..."

[As Hammer speaks, Fei literally leaps in front of him and takes a swing in front of him.]

HAMMER
"Eeek! Wha, wha, what the!?"

[Citan drops his arms, and shakes his head.]

CITAN
"I will explain later! Just move it, O.K.!"

[Fei nods. Fei and Citan walk very quickly away from the guarded gate. Hammer just stands there looking for a minute, then turns when they are off the screen.]

HAMMER
"Wait, bro-! Do, doc, Cita-n? Where are you going? Hey, are you listening?"

[Hammer looks around and then runs after them.]

HAMMER
"Waaaaaaiiiii----t!"

[Camera pans up to the rooftops. Scene fade.]

[Scene opens inside the doctor's house. Fei, Citan and Hammer are back in and the woman doctor is there too. Fei is talking to the doctor.]

FEI
"Sorry 'bout this.
There was nowhere else we could talk about it..."

DOCTOR
"No, it's okay. I haven't been able to see Hammer in a while."

[Hammer turns to the doctor. Fei turns to Hammer.]

HAMMER
"Sis, you didn't forget about me. I'm so t, touched!"

[Fei looks down.]

FEI
"Alright, Hammer. So tell me where my Gear is."

[Hammer turns to Fei.]

HAMMER
"Huh? Oh!? Yeah, the Gear. I almost forgot."

[Hammer starts talking.]

HAMMER
"As the doc predicted, bro. Your Gear has been moved to another dispatchment dock."

[Citan nods.]

CITAN
"So, where on earth is Weltall?"

HAMMER
"Not 'on earth', but under the earth! It's in an underground dock in D Block!
I've checked into it and found out that there are two routes we can use to sneak inside.
The first one requires us to enter via the Battling Arena grounds."

[Fei puts his hands on his hips.]

FEI
"Well there's no way we can sneak in via the Battling Arena! What's the second?"

[Fei looks at Hammer.]

HAMMER
"The second way is a little dangerous as it involves the supply train tunnel.
You have to get into the tunnel's ducts and follow them right through till they lead to the docks.
But I couldn't find out the duct's layout... Sorry, bro."

[Fei looks down.]

FEI
"... Oh that tunnel, huh?
Well, now that we have the bomb problem off of our necks, we might be able to make a go of it!"

[Citan assumes his thinking posture. Fei looks at Citan.]

CITAN
"Yes, but we are still left with not knowing the times that the trains pass by on.
Will a supply train pass by at a time that is of any use to us?"

[Fei shakes his head, then nods.]

FEI
"Not all of this has to be decided now. Let's take our time and plan it carefully!"

[Fei looks at Hammer.]

FEI
"Firstly Hammer, I'm sorry to put you out, but...
Could you find out the days and times that the supply trains operate on for us please?"

HAMMER
"I'll get right on it, bro. Well then, I'll be off!"

[Hammer leaves. Citan turns to Fei and nods.]

CITAN
"Shall we return to D Block for now?"

[Fei nods. The two leave A Block and head back to D Block. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on the D Block entrance/exit. Fei and Citan walk in towards the main dorm. Scene cuts to behind Fei as two Battlers and an Amazoness walk out of the prisoner's barracks. Fei looks at them and nods.]

FEI
"Who are you?"

BATTLER 1
"Don't be so cruel. We've been waiting for you."

[Citan looks down.]

CITAN
"Waiting? For...... us?"

[Battler 2 turns to Citan.]

BATTLER 2
"Please, come with us..."

FEI

[Everyone turns to the Amazoness.]

[Fei shakes his head.]

BATTLER 1
"Right, sorry."

[Citan looks up.]

CITAN
"... Well, I assume you are not hostile..."

[Fei looks at Citan.]

FEI
"..."

[The Amazoness turns to Fei and Citan.]

AMAZONESS
"... Not here. Let's go somewhere else. Come, follow me."

[The trio walk off.]

CITAN
"It seems we have no choice. Shall we go Fei?"

[Fei nods. Citan begins walking after them. Scene fade.]

[Begin music: "Pray for the People's Joy"]

[Scene opens on the Champ's room. Fei, Citan, the Amazoness and the Battlers are in it. Camera pan down from the ceiling to behind Fei and Citan. Fei is sitting on the large sofa.]

FEI
"So... what do you want with us?"

AMAZONESS
"The Champ... no I mean... Rico needs your help."

[Citan nods.]

CITAN
"Help the Champion...?"

FEI
"Hang on, what do you mean?"

BATTLER 1
"Y'know what just happened... The special broadcast on the dorm's vid by the Committee!"

BATTLER 2
"Yeah, y'know, the broadcast said somthin' like this...
This evening, the former Champion was found guilty of attempting to assassinate the Kaiser, as well as breaking Imperial Code section B..."

[Battler 2 continues.]

BATTLER 2
"Thus, a public execution will be held at the arena..."

FEI
"Yes, I know he got caught, and was arrested...
But, what's this about an attempted assassination of the Kaiser!?"

BATTLER 1
"Those committee members... The Champ probably got in their way somehow..."

[Citan nods.]

CITAN
"... The Battling Committee?"

AMAZONESS
"The Battling Committee is made up mostly of people from the 'Ethos'.
They used to have a lot of pull in the government...
But the current kaiser, Sigmund, ousted almost all of the 'Ethos' influence from the government."

BATTLER 1
"On top of that, these past few years...
In order to strengthen the military or something, the Kaiser has started to interfere with the Battling operated by the 'Ethos'."

[Battler 1 continues.]

BATTLER 1
"The Kaiser probably got in the way of them operating the Battling smoothly. So, they used the Champ..."

FEI
"Why Rico...?"

AMAZONESS
"Rico was originally born in this town...
But because Sigmund whipped up anti-demihuman sentiment, Rico was chased out of this town when he was young."

[The Amazoness continues.]

AMAZONESS
"So Rico hated the Kaiser, the capital Nortune, and the whole Kislev Empire."

FEI
"And that's why they went after Rico..."

BATTLER 1
"In the past, the Champ has had many chances to kill the Kaiser.
That the earlier crash into the box seat was disguised as an accident..."

AMAZONESS
"But that failed too. The committee, fearing being exposed, used Rico..."

BATTLER 2
"The Champ is being manipulated by the committee.
Please, Fei! Help the Champ."

BATTLER 1
"Now, you are the Battling Champ, but our Champ is..."

[As Battler 1 speaks, Hammer calls out from below.]

HAMMER
"B, b, bro-!!
Are you he-re?"

[Hammer walks in from downstairs, babbling, as usual, without looking.]

HAMMER
"The supply train times, dates and destinations! I got them all... no prob!"

[Hammer turns to see Fei's guests.]

HAMMER
"... Wha? Hey bro, what are you doing talking with them?"

FEI
"Hold on a minute.
Hammer, tell me about those supply trains."

HAMMER
"Huh? Is it... alright? With these outsiders...?"

[Citan nods.]

CITAN
"It is alright, they are our friends."

HAMMER
"Oh, really?
Well, okay... The next supply train's operating date is... tonight!
But... if that's too soon, then the next one is..."

FEI
"Hammer, did you say that a supply train will pass by here tonight?"

HAMMER
"What? Tonight? Well there are trains passing through...
Um, but bro... we need a thorough plan. Tonight is impossible!"

[Fei jumps off the couch.]

FEI
"The situation has changed, and so have our plans. We move tonight!!"

HAMMER
"We move tonight...? What the...? Are you serious?"

[Fei and Citan nod. Fei looks at Citan. Citan assumes thinking posture.]

CITAN
"... Did you hear any interesting tidbits of information outside?"

HAMMER
"Well... the dorms are in an uproar over that Master Rico thing..."

[Citan looks up.]

CITAN
"Do you know any details? Rico is to be executed at the arena, tonight, right?"

HAMMER
"Master Rico's going to be executed... is this true?"

[Citan nods. Fei shakes his head and turns to Hammer.]

FEI
"Didn't you say there was one more route?"

HAMMER
"Huh? Oh yeah, you mean via the arena, right... Bro! You're not thinking..."

FEI
"Yes I am thinking exactly that!
You said it may be possible to get out through the Battling Arena, right?"

[Citan assumes thinking mode again.]

CITAN
"I see! Then we probably can help the Champion..."

[Fei looks at Citan.]

FEI
"Doc."

[Citan nods.]

CITAN
"Hmm. It might just work!"

[Fei turns to Hammer.]

HAMMER
"Wait a minute!
Might just work...? You don't intend to just go bursting into the arena, do you?"

[Fei puts his hands on his hips.]

FEI
"Either way, we were going to escape via the arena, so it's on our way... right!?"

AMAZONESS
"Then that means...?"

[Fei looks up.]

FEI
"No problem. It's just one more thing to do on the way to getting my Gear back..."

[Citan assumes his thinking posture again.]

CITAN
"Leave the rest to us. And I would like you all to go to the arena tonight.
We will leave Nortune, but if they think you were all involved with us, I do not know what they might do..."

[Battler 1 starts leaving.]

BATTLER 1
"We're counting on you... for the Champ's sake."

[The Amazoness starts leaving.]

AMAZONESS
"Sorry, we had to ask you to do this..."

[Battler 2 walks straight up to Fei.]

BATTLER 2
"We really appreciate what you're doing...
Here... please take this."

[Battler 2 leaves.]

FEI
"Hammer, you hide yourself somewhere.
When we get out into the arena, I'm just going to go wild in my Gear...
We'll play it by ear from there to escape from the Imperial capital... You got it, Hammer?"

HAMMER
"I got you, bro! Show them your stuff for me too, bro!"

[Hammer leaves.]

FEI
"There is still some time until the train passes by..."

[Citan taps his foot.]

CITAN
"Well, if everything is ready then, why not take a light nap?"

[Fei nods. Fei and Citan walk to the bedroom. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on the Champ's bedroom. Fei walks up to the bed.]

FEI
... I can rest here.
[Rest]

[Citan walks off a step and nods.]

CITAN
"Hold on, Fei. Are you fully prepared?
You know there is no turning back now."

FEI
"Huh? Yeah, you're right."
[I'm ready]

[Fei nods. Citan assumes his thinking posture.]

CITAN
"... There is still some time before the train arrives... Let us rest
here for a while."

[Scene fade.]

[Begin music: "Back to Sleep (2)"]

[Begin music: "Pray for the People's Joy"]

[Scene opens on the Champ's bedroom. It's tinted green now, though. Fei and Citan leave. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on the Champ's room. It's also tinted. Fei and Citan walk down the stairs. Scene change.]

[Begin music: "Jaws of Ice"]

[Scene opens on the bar, but it is now empty, and tinted green to indicate evening. Fei and Citan walk out. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on the watchtower. An Amazoness is on it instead of Gramps.]

CITAN
"The tower we want is over there. Hurry, Fei!"

[Camera pan quickly to behind Fei. They walk a few steps and find Battler 1 standing on the ground.]

BATTLER 1
"Sorry, I was so worried about the Champ I couldn't leave.
Rico's counting on you."

[Fei and Citan climb to the tower.]

AMAZONESS
"... Sorry. I... can't go in the arena.
No matter what you say, I can't. Well it's time...
Tonight's train will be coming through here... I wish you success. Maybe... we can meet again."

[The train's bell is heard. Fei and Citan jump off the tower onto the train. Scene cut to the tracks. The train goes on its way into the tunnel. Scene cut to behind the train as it enters the tunnel. A rumble is felt.]

FEI
"Whoa!! What the?"

[Scene fade. Stop music.]

[Scene opens on the tunnel. The train flies towards camera fast. Camera stops in front of Fei and Citan and rotates around them to behind. Camera pans back a few feet.]

CITAN
"Whew, that was a close one! We almost got thrown off."

FEI
"It's all because of those mischievous punks!
When the old man's gone they always do this. Oh well."

[Citan turns to the side.]

CITAN
"Kind of odd hearing that from a mischievous 'you know who'."

[Fei turns to Citan.]

FEI
"Huh? You say something?"

[Citan turns to Fei.]

CITAN
"Well, anyway, we should be alright if we take this all the way.
As for the mission, so far so good."

[A whistle is heard and the train shudders. Fei and Citan turn towards the front of the train.]

FEI
"What's that sound?"

[Camera pan to in front of the car Fei and Citan are standing on, focusing on the connector.]

[Begin music: "Fuse"]

CITAN
"The connector...! Fei, hurry up and jump off!!"

[Fei and Citan jump to the next car. They turn to see the previous car detach and fall away.]

CITAN
"This train is almost falling apart. That was another close one."

FEI
"What if it derails before we get to the Gear dock..."

[Another noise is heard. Fei turns around.]

FEI
!!

CITAN
"This car is unstable too. Let us get to the front!!"

[Fei and Citan jump to the engine. The previous car detaches and falls away. Fei and Citan watch it go.]

CITAN
"One disaster after another..."

FEI
"Pretty unreliable train."

[A pause as the train continues.]

CITAN
"The entrance to the ventilation shaft that leads to the Gear dock
should be coming up soon."

[Fei and Citan turn to the opposite side of the train.]

CITAN
"Here we go!!"

[Fei and Citan jump off the train out of sight. Scene fade.]

[Begin music: "Invasion"]

[Scene opens on the other end of the duct. Fei and Citan drop out of it. Fei tries a door when Citan stops him.]

CITAN
"Someone is approaching. We should hide."

[Fei and Citan jump behind some boxes. Camera pan slowly around to behind them, also showing the door. Two workers walk in. One turns to the other.]

WORKER 1
Everyday work, work, work. Doesn't anything fun ever happen around here?

WORKER 2
No doubt...
That last champion looks like he's been matched with the beast.

WORKER 1
Now that's something. Let's get this work done and go check it out.

WORKER 2
Yeah. We need to do that, we've been workin' too much lately.

[Worker 1 walks to a console and uses a key card. The door opens and they leave. The door shuts behind them. Fei and Citan get back to their snooping. Fei walks up to the door again.]

CITAN
"There seem to be people. It may be best not to go in through here..."

[Fei takes Citan's advice and they head for the airduct. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on the airduct. The duo have gone a short ways down the airduct, when Fei stops to look through a grate and sees a Gear dock. There are Gears rotating in the chambers and all of a sudden, one that rotates into view is Weltall.]

FEI
"! Hey..."

[Scene changes back to the airduct. Fei and Citan go further and find another grate. Under this one a bunch of Kislev workers are revealed. Workers are constantly traveling through the hall outside the room.]

WORKER 1
Oh.

[One worker walks over to the center of the far wall and looks around quickly. Two of the other workers walk by him.]

WORKER 2
What're you doing? We're going.

[The two workers leave. The first worker looks around quickly, then at the door.]

WORKER 1
Aaahh forget it!

[Worker 1 runs out the door after them. Scene change.]

[Scene changes back to the airduct. Fei and Citan go further and find another grate. Under this one a security post is revealed. Two guards are in it and the workers from before walk in. They stop to talk to the guard in the window.]

WORKER 2
Security has so much free time. You're lucky.

GUARD 1
People always think we have plenty of free time.

[The workers leave. The soldier leaves the window and walks outside the booth. Then he turns back to the other guard.]

GUARD 1
Anyway, what've you been doing over there?

[Guard 2 turns around.]

GUARD 2
Huh? Oh, uh, no, n, nothing.

[Guard 2 turns back to whatever it was he was doing.]

GUARD 1
Oh... well whatever.

[Guard 1 leaves. Scene change back to the airduct. Further on, they find another grate to peer into. Under this one Gears are going up large elevators in the backside of the hangar where Weltall was previously spotted.]

[Scene change back to the airduct. Fei and Citan run into the next section of airduct.]

FEI
"!"

[Fei doesn't open the door. The two workers walk from the first area walk in. Camera pan to behind the workers.]

WORKER 1
Hey, make sure you return the Master Key back to the shelf.

WORKER 2
Yes, sir.

[Camera pan to the side, revealing the adjoining room next to Fei. The worker puts something on a shelf.]

WORKER 1
This should do it...

[Camera pan back to the previous shot as the workers walk out into the hall. A third worker walks in.]

WORKER 3
Heeeey, did ya'all hear? The battle between the ex-Champ and the beast is about to begin.

[The first two turn to the third worker.]

WORKER 2
Oh, it's already starting. There's no way we can miss this.

[Workers 2 and 3 leave. Worker 1 looks around and then runs out after them. Fei and Citan walk into the room now that it's empty. Fei goes to the shelf.]

[Item sound]

Received Master Key.

[Citan walks over to the shelf as Fei starts to walk away.]

CITAN
"Hey... Fei, wait a minute."

FEI
"What's wrong, doc?"

[Citan turns to Fei.]

CITAN
"This is a part that allows a Gear to recover 30% of its HP.
If you have this equipped, you can activate this during battle. It is a highly useful item but
the drawback is that you will use fuel, so you must use it with caution."

FEI
"That really doesn't matter unless we get back the Gear, doc.
There's no one here so let's hurry up and get out of here."

CITAN
"Uh, oh yes. My usual habit...
Well, we should take it anyway since we have the chance."

[Item sound]

Received Frame HP30.

[Fei and Citan make like bandits and leave the room. They head through the rooms they spied on earlier. Eventually, they come to the security checkpoint. Fei examines where the soldier was working.]

[Item sound]

Received Minigear.

[Camera pan around to the side opposite the window as the soldier starts coming back.]

GUARD 2
I forgot it...

[The guard walks in normally, then stops when he turns the corner.]

GUARD 2
Huh!?

[Fei turns to the guard when he walks back and sees him in the window.]

GUARD 2
Y, you! My super ultra great delicious excellent dynamite bomber special DX beautiful wonderful ultimately rare buy complete merging undefeated transforming I was going to put in a glass case in my home priceless Minigear!!

[Fei looks around. The guard walks back to the exit.]

GUARD 2
Thief!!

[Fei and Citan run out to where the guard is but another has joined him.]

[Battle: Fei/Citan vs. Swordsman x4]

[Fei and Citan, now armed with the Master Key, walk through the rooms to the Gear dock. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on the Gear dock. Fei goes over to where he saw Weltall and roates the Gears until he finds it. Fei gets into the cockpit and starts piloting Weltall. He finds a service robot on the backside.]

REPAIR BOT
This is the automated Gear Shop.
[Fei tunes up his Gear.]

REPAIR BOT
Thank you and we hope to be of service to you again.

[Weltall and Citan get on the service elevator on the backside of the hangar. Camera pan to above them as the elevator takes them up. Scene fade. Stop music.]
