Chapter 23: Secret Weapon

[Scene opens outside Nortune (at last!). Fei and his cohorts head north through a forest and around a river. They go behind a mountain range. They board their Gears there and enter the Goliath Factory. Stop music. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on the entrance to the Goliath Factory. Weltall, Vierge and Stier wander around until they find an erratic looking repair bot wandering about the back door.]

HAMMER
"Muahahah! Hey bro, I went ahead and opened up the locks for you.
What? The Gear? Nah, don't worry about the details. I'm the information man!
There's nothing outta my reach.
But hey, there aren't any enemies though. Something's suspicious.
Oh yeah, you can change your party and even shop.
Need anything?"
[Shop]

HAMMER
"Go get 'em. I'll catch up with you later."

[Weltall opens the back door. Camera pan to behind the Gears. Scene change.]

[Scene opens in a chamber with crates. Weltall has barely gone two steps when a couple of droids pop out from behind the crates and attack.]

[Begin music: "The Steel Giant"]

[Battle: Weltall/Vierge/Stier vs. HarquebusMk10 x2]

[Stop music.]

[They walk a little further, then three Gears walk out of their docks and attack.]

[Begin music: "The Steel Giant"]

[Battle: Weltall/Vierge/Stier vs. NeoMushaMk100 x3]

[Stop music.]

[The trio walk a few more feet when two more gun Gears leap off a gantry and accost them.]

[Begin music: "The Steel Giant"]

[Battle: Weltall/Vierge/Stier vs. HarquebusMk10 x2]

[Stop music.]

[The Gears go through another large door at the back. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on a "narrow" corridor (narrow for Gears, that is!). The Gears navigate through a maze of hallways to another door. Camera pan to behind the door. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on another crate-filled area. The sound of a conveyor is heard. Very quickly, two more gun-shaped Gears roll up to the trio.]

[Begin music: "The Steel Giant"]

[Battle: Weltall/Vierge/Stier vs. HarquebusMk10 x2]

[Stop music.]

[The Gears move on, when three more Gears walk out of their docks and attack.]

[Begin music: "The Steel Giant"]

[Battle: Weltall/Vierge/Stier vs. Hatamoto Mk3 x2/Mechanic x4]

[Stop music.]

[The Gear trio moves further up and takes a service elevator onto the conveyor above them. They ride the conveyor into the next hall. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on the next part of the factory where the conveyor ends. Weltall hops down and changes the conveyor's switch. The three then jump back on the conveyor going the other way. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on the previous part of the conveyor belt. The trio rides through. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on the other end of the conveyor belt. There is another upwards tilted conveyor belt travelling towards them. Weltall leaps to the floor and throws the switch, altering the direction, but when it does, three Gears come out of the chutes behind them and attack.]

[Begin music: "The Steel Giant"]

[Battle: Weltall/Vierge/Stier vs. HarquebusMk10 x3]

[The Gears jump onto the new conveyor belt and take it up. Scene change.]

[The conveyor carries the Gears over a previous crate-filled section of the factory. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on another conveyor merge area. Weltall and Co. hop off and use the next conveyor to proceed to the next section. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on the first crate room as the conveyor carries the Gears through to the next chamber. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on another section of conveyor as the Gears ride through it. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on a crate-filled docking area at the end of the conveyor as the Gears come out of it. Weltall and Co. snoop around the dock but when they approach a ramp, a large Gear with a spear and shield boots up and slides down the ramp quickly to them.]

[Begin music: "Knight of Fire"]

[Battle: Weltall/Vierge/Stier vs. Fis-6]

[Stop music.]

[Weltall and Co. go up the ramp past the entrance the Gear was guarding. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on a large control room. Fei, Citan, Elly, Rico and Hammer walk in, out of their Gears now. Rico looks around. Elly and Hammer keep turning and looking around the place.]

RICO
"Get a load of this! I can't believe they'd make such a thing..."

[Citan turns and assumes his thinking posture.]

CITAN
"... Shall we see if it works?"

[Citan walks to behind a pilot seat. Fei runs up to him.]

FEI
"Doc, do you know how to operate it!?"

[Citan turns around.]

CITAN
"Not really... But, Fei...
You were not thinking of stealing this big thing without knowing how to operate it, were you?"

FEI
Errr...

CITAN
"Well, anyway..."

[Camera pan to directly behind the pilot seat at a distance. Citan walks behind the console at the far end. Rico walks to the right corner. Everyone but Citan wanders around. That includes Fei, who wanders around getting reactions.]

HAMMER
"Bro, this thing is incredible... Boy is this exciting."

RICO
"..."

ELLY
"So they were this close to having it up and operational..."

[Citan turns around, getting Elly's attention.]

CITAN
"I think we can do this."

[Fei walks up to Citan.]

CITAN
"Well then, shall we go?"
[Yeah, let's go.]

CITAN
"Well everyone, this could be dangerous, so please be seated."

[The group takes seats along the perimeter as the scene fades.]

[Scene opens in front of Citan at the pilot console in the corner.]

CITAN
"Is everyone ready?"

[The floor begins rumbling as Citan speaks.]

CITAN
"It will... shake a little."

[Scene cut to Hammer and Rico in seats on the side.]

RICO
"Couldn't you tell us..."

HAMMER
"... a bit sooner..."

[Scene cut to the cockpit view and it pans back behind the floor as the window is revealed, showing the launch dock. Scene cut to underneath the Goliath's front as a propeller start rotating and gaining full speed. Scene cut to in front of the rear of the Goliath as the tail propeller begins turning, getting to full speed. Scene cut to a short distance behind Fei and Citan in the front seats as the dock is shown in the front window. The ship begins moving out of it. Scene cut to the side of the Goliath's tail as it picks up speed. Scene cut to in front of Fei and Citan. Scene cut to in front of the Goliath, side angle. Scene cut to Rico and Hammer's seats. Scene cut to in front of the opposite rear end of the Goliath as it uses its propellers to gain speed. Scene cut to Elly in a seat on the side opposite Rico and Hammer. Scene cut to above the Goliath as it makes a bit of a turn and takes off from the dock. Fade to white.]

[Begin music: "Wings"]

[Scene opens on the sky. Camera is looking up at the Goliath. Camera rotates around to behind it and up to its level, revealing the ocean underneath it. Camera keeps rotating to the opposite side and above the Goliath. Camera rotates out to in front of the Goliath and up at a distance away. The Goliath flies towards the camera, heading under it. Camera rotates to above the Goliath behind it and pulls back to a distance shot, keeping pace with the ship. Scene fade.]

[Scene opens on the bridge in front of Citan.]

CITAN
"The shaking has subsided. We should be in good shape for now."

[Fei walks up to Citan from his side. Hammer walks in from the opposite direction. Fei looks at Citan. Hammer looks at Fei.]

HAMMER
"Bro, what're we gonna do now? Go to Aveh as planned?"

[Fei turns to Hammer.]

FEI
"Yeah..."

CITAN
"!! Fei!"

[Fei turns to Citan's direction.]

FEI
"What happened, doc......!!"

[Stop music.]

[Scene cut to the window. A Gear is hovering in front of the Goliath. Window cuts in closer amidst an electronic sound to reveal someone standing on the Gear. Window cuts closer to reveal...Grahf!]

[Begin music: "Grahf, the Emperor of Darkness"]

[Scene cuts to in front of Citan. Rico and Elly walk in from their sides.]

ELLY
"Th, that's..."

FEI
"... It's him."

[Fei starts running away from the console but stops when Elly speaks.]

ELLY
"Fei, where are you going!?"

FEI
"I'm going out with the Gear..."

[Fei runs off. Elly looks on as Rico walks after him.]

ELLY
"Fei!"

[Hammer turns around.]

HAMMER
"M, Master!?"

[Elly runs after them. Scene cut to in front of Hammer as he runs into view, looking after them. The Gear isn't in the window.]

HAMMER
"Even Elly..."

[Grahf's Gear which, was under the screen, flies over it up to above them. Hammer turns around as the Gear flies by.]

[----Battle mode----]

[Weltall, Vierge and Stier are squared off against Grahf who is on the ground. His Gear is stationed next to him.]

[Scene cut to pan in close to Grahf.]

FEI
"Grahf!?"

GRAHF
"The Goliath wasn't built for you to use.
You must remain on this land a little longer. I can't allow you to leave..."

[Battle: Weltall/Vierge/Stier vs. Grahf]

[Grahf falls back on his seat.]

GRAHF
"So, you can now draw upon more of your power...
If that's the case then..."

[Scene cut to in front of the Goliath amidst a white background as the camera rotates quickly into position.]

CITAN
"Fei! Hold on tightly now!!"

[Scene cut to a distance shot of the Goliath.]

GRAHF
"Huh!?"

[Camera pan closer into the wing where the battle is occuring. The Goliath begins to lower its left wing and due to the shift, Grahf slides off of the wing. Scene cut to the last shot of Grahf before he disappears below the wing. Camera rotates around the wing. Grahf's Gear spins and slides off after him. Scene change.]

[----End battle mode----]

[Scene opens on the cockpit as it is slanted to the left and rumbling. Camera pan past Hammer.]

HAMMER
I'm slippin'

[Camera keeps panning to Citan's seat and past it as the Goliath tilts to the other side. Camera pans back to Citan's seat as the Goliath tilts to the left more mildly. The cockpit begins to settle as the camera pans to behind Citan's seat. Hammer runs up from the left.]

HAMMER
"Aaaaaaah! Looook ooouut!!
Master Citan!! It's alright to throw the black creep, but bro and Master Rico as well...?"

CITAN
"If it is them, they are okay.
Nevermind that, Hammer, go to that trigger!"

[Scene cut to in front of Citan and Hammer a few feet to the left of his seat. Hammer walks over to a guided missile-shaped apparatus.]

HAMMER
"Trigger...? You mean this? What do I do with..."

CITAN
"You must fire. Look, it is coming."

HAMMER
?

[Scene cut to behind Hammer. Grahf's Gear flies into view a distance away from the window. Hammer turns to see it and drops his hands.]

HAMMER
"The~y're he~re!!"

[Hammer begins running in circles. Scene cut to in front of Citan and Hammer. Hammer looks at Citan.]

CITAN
"Hammer! Calm down and concentrate. It is heading straight at us.
All you have to do is aim well, pull the trigger and fire."

[Scene cut to behind Hammer.]

HAMMER
"Aiming..."

[Hammer puts his hands on the trigger. A red dot appears on the screen. Hammer lifts it up a couple feet on the screen to the right of Grahf's Gear. It then moves past his head to the left. It then drops to his level on the left side. It then crosses over him to the right and passes him. It passes him over to the left again. It then finds its target dead-on. The dot raises a couple inches. Scene cut to in front of Citan and Hammer.]

HAMMER
"L, like this?"

CITAN
"Good, keep it there and do not move your aim. Get ready to fire in..."

[Scene cut to behind Hammer.]

CITAN
5... 4...

[Scene cut to in front of Citan.]

CITAN
3...

[Scene cut to closeup on Grahf's Gear, revealing that he is standing on it again. Pan in close as the Gear flies past camera.]

CITAN
2...

[Scene cut to in front of Citan and Hammer.]

CITAN
1...

[Scene cut to behind Hammer.]

CITAN
Fire!!

[Red flame spouts out of the Goliath in front of Grahf's Gear as it is right in front of the ship. The blast knocks the Gear away with a powerful force. The entire scene is lit up reddish white. Scene cut to in front of Hammer as he is firing the trigger. Hammer lets go. Fade music. Camera pan to in front of Citan as Hammer whoops it up.]

HAMMER
"Y, ye, ye, aaaaaawwww yeeeaaahhh!!!"

[Hammer runs to behind Citan's seat on the side.]

HAMMER
"Master, sir, did you just see my MAD SKILLZ!?
I just might be a genius! ... Wha?"

[Hammer turns to both sides.]

HAMMER
"By the way, what's up with bro and the gang?
You don't think they fell off?"

[Hammer walks up a step and folds his arms as Rico walks in behind him.]

HAMMER
"Well, at least you still got me.
It should be a piece o' cake with me around. Right, Master, sir?"

[Scene fade to black quickly.]

NOISE
SMACK!!

[Scene opens on the cockpit a distance behind the pilot's seats. Fei walks around talking to the others.]

HAMMER
"Awww, Master Rico... please don't be mad. It was just a joke.
Master Rico, it's because of you I am what I am. C'mon..."

[Rico turns around.]

RICO
"Shut up!!!"

[Hammer runs to the other side of the cockpit screaming.]

HAMMER
"Yiiiiiiiiikkkessssss!!"

[Rico turns around again.]

RICO
"..."

HAMMER
"Geeze! Why am I the one getting yelled at when it was me who took'm out..."

ELLY
"That person... wasn't aiming for me. Why...?"

[Elly wonders to herself.]

ELLY
"..."

[Fei goes over to Citan.]

[Scene cut to in front of Citan and Fei. Fei turns to Citan.]

FEI
"... Doc. I don't know how to say this but... I've got a bad feeling."

[Citan turns around to Fei.]

CITAN
"Are you thinking of that man in black?
Thinking about him will not get you anywhere. First of all, it is not like you..."

FEI
"It's not that. It's not like...
It's like this feeling of uneasiness that I've had before..."

CITAN
"You too!?
Well, to tell the truth, I am getting a terrible feeling of deja vu..."

FEI
"And I feel like we're being watched..."

[Camera pan in closer. Scene change.]

[Scene opens in green. A target scope makes up the screen. The target scope rotates to lock on and view the Goliath above it. It pans down to put the ship in the exact center of the scope.]

VOICE
Bingo! Our information was correct. It's Kislev's...
It's huge... It appears to be a...

[A click is heard. Fade to black. Fade in on a closeup of the Goliath.]

VOICE
"That's it! The Goliath! The one from the underground factory we've heard so much about!!
Crap... they're taking revenge! Bet they're going to bomb Bledavik!

[Scene fade.]

[Scene opens on the Yggdrasil bridge. Guess who's looking into the periscope? Bart! He backs away from it.]

BART
"Either way, no need to let him go so fast... right...?"

[Bart retracts the periscope.]

[Begin music: "Leftovers of the Dreams of the Strong" - tempo faster than normal]

BART
"Gunner!"

GUNNER
Gungany... No, Bart Missile, fueling!
It'll take fifteen seconds from opening the hatch to engage the illuminator!

[Scene pan back slow to reveal the entire front of the bridge.]

BART
"Franz!"

[Bart walks up the bridge to behind Franz's seat.]

FRANZ
"I don't hear anything other than the surface wind waves and our engine.
Threat is minimal from looking at the radar and sonar."

[Bart jumps off the bridge and walks next to the gunner.]

BART
"Here we go!
BattCon level 1!"

[A ringing alarm is heard. The bridge goes back and then fades in with red tint. Scene cut to the bridge door. Maison runs in and turns to Bart.]

MAISON
"Y, young master! What is happening?
What was the alarm all about...?"

[Sigurd walks in.]

SIGURD
"Young master! Again!!?"

[Camera pan to behind Bart.]

BART
"Battle stations, everyone! Surface navigation! Close the vents!
Blow the main tank! Prepare for anti-aircraft battle upon surfacing!"

[Sigurd and Maison both mutter at once.]

SIGURD
"Just doesn't know when to give up..."

MAISON
"Y, young master! The Gungany Missiles...
You need permission from more than a half of the crew members to..."

[Bart turns towards Franz, ignoring Maison.]

BART
"Surface-combat! Stand by with the anti-aircraft guns.
Gunner! Give me the trigger for the Bart Missiles!"

[Scene fade.]

[Scene opens on the Yggdrasil. It's intact, and floating in the water. Camera pan to the rear end of the ship as bay doors open in the top of it. A bright orange missile is lifted up in their place. Scene cut to a faraway shot of the Goliath. Camera pan back to behind the Yggdrasil's tail. The missile is fired and immediately homes on the Goliath. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on the front of the cockpit, side view of Citan, who's out of his seat, and Fei is standing next to him. Both are looking out the window. Elly walks in from behind the camera.]

ELLY
"What's wrong?"

[Fei turns around.]

FEI
"Oh, it's nothing."

ELLY
"Okay... I'm glad..."

[Elly turns to Citan.]

ELLY
"Anyway, Citan, is it okay? We're flying in such a large ship.
What if Kislev or Aveh finds us..."

[Citan turns to Elly.]

CITAN
"We are fine. I thought ahead and picked a course over the sea.
There are not any military units stationed out here.
Even then, this thing is not something that will go down so easily..."

[A shudder is felt. The bridge starts flashing red and an electronic alarm starts ringing.]

[Scene cut to in front of Citan.]

CITAN
"This cannot be right!? Are we being attacked!?"

[Citan walks to the other side, then walks off. Then he walks back. He keeps doing this. Hammer is walking in a circle behind Elly. Fei looks in Citan's direction.]

FEI
"Enemies!?"

[Citan paces faster.]

CITAN
"I do not know. But I did not think they would be submerged here..."

ELLY
"Are we okay!?"

[Citan walks back in front of his seat and turns to Elly.]

CITAN
"... Unfortunately, there is no way we can avoid descending.
Fei, Elly, get out first. I will follow later."

FEI
"But..."

[Citan turns to Fei.]

CITAN
"We have no time for a debate now, Fei!!
Do you think you have the skills needed to keep the Goliath in the air as long as possible!?"

FEI
"..."

[Citan turns to the console.]

CITAN
"Then hurry up and get out."

[Fei nods. Fei runs off and Elly follows him.]

CITAN
"Now then..."

[Citan turns to Hammer, who's busy walking in a circle.]

CITAN
"... And you too, Hammer! You are going too!"

[Hammer stops and turns to Citan.]

HAMMER
"Y, yy, yessir!!"

[Hammer looks quickly in front and behind him several times. Rico walks in front of him.]

RICO
"Argh! Quit dawdling. We're going."

[Rico walks away. Hammer watches him.]

HAMMER
"Yessir!!"

[Hammer runs off. Citan turns back to the console.]

CITAN
"Now... where did they..."

[A screen adjustment is heard.]

CITAN
"!! That ship..."

[Citan turns to the side and turns back in thinking posture.]

CITAN
"Sigurd...
I think you need to rethink your method of disciplining..."

[Scene change.]

[Scene opens away from the Goliath as parts of it begin to explode into flame. Camera pan back to reveal the top of the Yggdrasil where Bart is watching. He leaps up and walks to the wheel. Scene cut to in front of Bart. He laughs and then flexes a muscle.]

BART
"Rah hah hah!! That's the power of the Bart Missile!!
Even Kislev's prototype can't stand up to it!!"

[Bart takes a step back. Stop music.]

BART
"... Uh, hey..."

[Bart moves a step to the side.]

BART
"S-stay back... Keep away!!"

[Bart runs away to the top of the screen. Scene fade.]

[Scene opens in front of the flaming Goliath as it continues on a crash course with the ocean. The Goliath hits the ocean and bobs up, its tail heading directly for the front of the Yggdrasil. Flash to white. Scene cut to a long distance away as an hot white explosion is seen next to the Goliath. A loud rumble is felt in the ocean even as far away as the camera. Then nothing but the sea breeze is heard. Scene fade.]

[Scene opens on a Gebler bridge. Ramsus and Miang are commandeering. Camera in front of Ramsus at a short distance. The operators work at their consoles and then speak.]

OPERATOR 1
We have the coordinates of those recent dimensional vibrations.
N24, E92, Ignas, in the Lahan region, the northeast ocean.
From the wave pattern, it's definitely a Gatekeeper.

OPERATOR 2
There are no regular mainland flights.

RAMSUS
"Could it be Shevat's Aphel Aura?"

[Operator 1 turns to the bridge.]

OPERATOR 1
No. The mass is different. It's a much smaller pattern.

[Operator 2 turns to the bridge.]

OPERATOR 2
I can't believe that the Lambs have a ship equipped with a Gatekeeper.

RAMSUS
"It probably is Kislev's. The last purge was not complete."

[Electronic sound. Fade to black. The crew and commanders look around. Grahf has faded in behind the bridge. The electronic sound is constant.]

RAMSUS
"Damn you..."

GRAHF
"Shouldn't you pursue?"

RAMSUS
"What?"

GRAHF
"The one who caused you so much pain and grief is on that ship.
And it's headed for Aquvy."

[Grahf fades out. Stop electronic sound. Fade to black. Fade back in normally. Ramsus turns around.]

[Begin music: "Knight of Fire" - tempo slower than normal]

RAMSUS
"Put all the crew members on emergency alert. We're attacking the Kislev ship."

[Everyone turns to Ramsus.]

MIANG
"We can't, Commander! We don't have orders from the capital yet.
If we move from here..."

RAMSUS
"I don't care! I won't allow them to escape!"

[Miang leaves the bridge. Scene change.]

[Scene opens in the corridor next to the bridge. Miang walks in. Camera behind Miang. She walks a few feet. Fade music 3/4. Electronic sound is heard and keeps repeating. Fade to red/black as Grahf fades in with his arms folded, blocking Miang's path. Camera pan to side view.]

GRAHF
"I believe I already said your tricks will do you no good."

MIANG
"I'm just trying to help. Didn't I help get those 'shackles' off?
Now, you know the 'vessel' will only respond to the chosen one.
They don't know this. But... he's necessary for Kahr.
He's the very meaning of Kahr's existence."

[The sound of the ship booting up is heard.]

MIANG
"Yes, I must thank you. After all, you did help me didn't you?"

GRAHF
"..."

MIANG

[Stop sound. Scene change. Return music to full volume.]

[Scene opens on Aveh behind Fatima Castle. The battleship dock opens. Camera pans around the dock to the north side as the battleship exits the hangar and turns south. Scene change.]

[Scene opens on the Gebler bridge.]

OPERATOR 1
We will take the boundary between gates 1 and 2, it's the shortest way to Aquvy.

RAMSUS
"Fine."

[Operator 2 turns to the bridge.]

OPERATOR 2
Message from Kelvena.
Dominia is withdrawing in Haishao. She will pursue the aerial battleship.

[Scene change. Stop music.]

[Scene opens on top of the whirring orb in darkness from before as the smaller orbs rotate around it. A viewscreen is revealed on the side next to the orb. It reveals the explosion of the Goliath in a still frame.]

ORB FACES
Disobedience... Ramsus' orders are to excavate the 'Anima Relics' in Ignas...
and to watch over the Lambs. What is he......

We can recover the 'Anima Relics' anytime.
Moreover, we learned that 'he' was on the transferred ship.
Ramsus was probably after 'him'.
